Meet David Bell
I retired from the U.S. Navy in 2010 as a nuclear-trained Chief Petty Officer after serving aboard five submarines, including three Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarines. During my Navy career, I led teams of nuclear-trained Electrical Operators and Reactor Operators, completed three overseas deployments, including one to a combat zone, and taught advanced mathematics, electrical theory, mechanical theory, and reactor theory to more than 400 junior sailors.
After retiring from the Navy, I continued my career as an Automation Engineer in local manufacturing. I earned my MBA in Leadership from Charleston Southern University in 2016 and have continued to focus on accountability, teamwork, and practical problem-solving.
My public service has also included serving on the Charleston County School District Constituent Board representing West Ashley from 2018 to 2022, including a term as Vice Chair. That experience reinforced my belief that strong public schools are the backbone of opportunity and long-term success for our community.
My family and I have lived in the West Ashley area of House District 116 for nearly 11 years, and I have called the Charleston area home for more than 25 years.
